When I first saw Optimum Nutrition’s 100% Any Whey, I thought to myself “About time someone has done this, and I can’t believe it hasn’t be done before!”. ON’s 100% Any Whey is a flavorless protein powder that you can pretty much put in anything you like!
Any Whey contains 83% pure protein and is designed to be bland in flavor, so you can mix it with practically anything without even noticing it’s there. Sounds pretty good huh? Well I thought I’d pick myself up a tub and road test it for myself! Here’s what went down…
ON 100% Any Whey road test:
I thought the best way to test out 100% Any Whey was to try (with the help of my very understanding wife) making some different foods with it included. Before I got started, I mixed up a shake with Any Whey and water. Don’t do this, it tastes like you’re drinking cardboard!! Ok, onto the foods…
I was racking my brains think of different ways I could use my 2.7lb tub. So here’s the things I made with it:
- Pancakes
- Home made protein bars
- Muffins
- Meal replacement shakes
- Cereal (I have weetabix mushed in with skimmed milk for breakfast)
- Porridge oats
- Cookies
Too be completely honest, I didn’t do much of the actual cooking, but I did supervise how much protein was going in and was heavily involved in the taste testing!
I wanted to make the foods as protein rich as possible without tasting the protein powder or ruining the recipe. For Any Whey to actually be worth buying it’d have to be practical, meaning you can really beef up the amount of protein in foods (not just a bit).
The verdict?
I couldn’t taste any difference in any of the things I (I mean we) cooked. I added 20g of extra protein to my morning cereal, which took it up to a total of 35g of protein and 50 grams of carbs - a perfect breakfast! My home made protein bars had a total of 18g of protein per bar, and my muffins were right up there too with approximately 22g of protein in each muffin.
Is it worth it?
Let’s be honest, it takes about 2 weeks to get sick of a typical muscle building diet. So I think it’s well worth having some flavorless protein powder on hand so you can get creative and still keep up the protein in your foods. There are limitless possibilities of what you could put this in, so I am definitely going to keep some lying around the house.

This is a brilliant idea! I can’t wait to get some of this!!
Good review! I was thinking about getting some of this and I reckon I’ll give it a shot. Looks like an easy way to get more protein in foods. Does anyone know a good site to get recipes I can use Any Whey in?
