At ALR Industries, we recognize the sincere reality that it is no longer a “man’s world.” In fact, it is quickly becoming just the opposite. In today’s, “soy-everything, estrogen is good/testosterone is evil society,” men face an onslaught of phyto- and xeno-estrogens in our foods and environment. These exogenous, feminizing estrogens compound our own natural estrogen production making matters even worse for us males.
Recent research has shown that testosterone levels, (which declines slowly over the natural course of life in males) seem to be falling at a faster rate in younger generations. That means that adult males today have significantly less natural testosterone than adult males of the same age from just 20 years ago. To compound that issue, some men also add products that aromatize to estrogens.
Each of these feminizing factors cause a net and additive negative effect upon our lean mass, sexual performance and all things male. The results are 3-fold:
- Increased levels of fat contribute to additional aromatase enzyme, which results in even more of our manly testosterone being converted into un-manly estrogens.
- The increase in estrogens suppresses our male testosterone production system via inhibition of the HPTA.
- Excess estrogen production causes a rise in another feminizing hormone, prolactin. (Prolactin is a hormone that causes lactation, increased breast size, impacts HPTA inhibition and suppression of GH production…not real manly).
Lastly, the stress hormones-glucocorticoids including cortisol, can impact your masculinity. Cortisol causes a breakdown in muscle tissue and it can also inhibit endogenous GH and testosterone production. Cortisol also fuels pathways that allow additional aromatase enzyme causing fat to accumulate.
