Animal Cuts Review:

About me:

Let me start by just adding a bit of background about myself. I have been training seriously for three years now. I have done three bulk/cut phases, so the phase I am testing this on if my fourth. I have never used any fat burning supplements before. I have used some muscle building supplements. These include whey protein, dextrose, creatine ethyl ester, ZMA and SuperPump 250.

I have a mesomorphic build, which means I have no trouble at all gaining weight but usually have a hard time losing it. I have to be 100% strict with my diet for weight loss, with no cheating or missing cardio.

This is the fourth time I have cut, so I am no stranger to how to lose fat. Like I said, my cutting phases are usually very hard. Lots of training, very strict diet. None of this changed this round even though I was testing out Animal Cuts. I wanted to make sure that it was the supplement that was making the difference, not my training or nutrition.

NB: I used the ephedra free version of Animal Cuts.

The review:

OK, let’s get started. One of the first things I noticed was a small increase in energy. I didn’t actually realize that Animal Cuts even had an energy booster, so I was quite surprised. This is handy because of the calorie deficit diet that I’m on means that I don’t have a lot of energy to train.

After the first 2 weeks I dropped a total of 4.7 pounds. This is more than I have dropped when i wasn’t using Animal Cuts, usually I drop around 3 pounds in the first few weeks. Because of the “metabolic swing” it’s not unusual to lose more weight in the first 2 weeks after changing your diet. I expected this to tape off, which is has done in the past.

As I got more into my cutting phase I found that the energy boost from Animal Cuts was really helping get through my cardio sessions. The cardio after weight training especially. Doing 50mins of heavy training followed by 45 mins of cardio is extremely hard on a 2350 calorie per day diet. So that was a definite positive.

Results for the following 2 weeks were less than expected, but a lot higher than previous phases. I lose a total of 2.7 pounds. My total body fat % loss was around 2.6%, so I was extremely happy with the results. My fat free mass has barely changed, meaning I have burned off almost pure fat. This is something I had not done before. Usually I lose quite a bit of muscle during my cutting phases.

One effect I was beginner to notice was i was not feeling as hungry as usual. Anyone will tell you that coming off a 3400 calorie per day diet onto a low calorie cutting diet is hard work. I didn’t know whether this was a good thing or not, I assumed that my lack of appetite would lead to muscle loss. But I still was able to get my daily calorie allowance without having to stuff anything in.

In weeks 4-6 I stepped up my cardio. I usually do this because now it’s getting even harder to shed fat. Generally, the lower my body fat gets the harder it is to move it. Again, I think the increase in energy from the supplement was making a difference. I did have the option of taking caffeine before my workouts, but I wanted to keep off it to see if I could keep progressing with my training, diet and Animal Cuts.

Fat loss was good, another 1.7 % lost which is getting very close to my target in the 8 week time.

Last 2 weeks, weeks 6-8 were hard. I felt very tired almost all of the time, even though my calories and carb intake was the same as the previous 2 weeks. Any energy boosting effect I had from Animal Cuts appeared to have gone. I struggled with my weights workouts, and felt like almost collapsing after cardio sessions.

My fat loss results matched my overall feeling, not as good as the previous weeks. I managed to lose .8% of body fat, which is still good for this far into a serious cutting cycle, but I was expecting much more.

That brings my total body fat lost in 8 weeks to 5.3%. I checked back on my logs from the last cutting cycles and the most I managed is 3% fat loss in the first 8 weeks. So that’s quite a difference.

Does it work?

I tried to keep everything the same as I have done in previous cutting cycles. I did not change any aspects of my diet, training or supplements. I trained at the same times, doing the same amount of exercise and the same exercises. The only difference I am fitter and stronger than in previous cuts.

So does Animal Cuts work? For me, I think the figures speak for themselves. I lost close to double the amount of fat when I used it, than when I didn’t. I did start to crash by the 8th week, so it’s hard to say whether those results would have kept up if I kept going the same way I was going.

Would I use it again? Yes. Maybe next time I might try cycling it for 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off.

It’s been a good experience trying Animal Cuts and writing this review. I hope this can be of some benefit to the readers of this site. If you have any comments please leave them in the box at the bottom of this page. Good luck with your fat loss!
